FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Why does my horse need a vaccination certificate?

Over the last few years, outbreaks of extremely contagious equine infections have arisen,

and shows have had to quarantine multiple horses for prolonged periods of time. Some of the

infections can also be life threatening. Many shows require that horses have not shown

symptoms of or have been treated for EHV 1, 4 or any other contagious disease within the past

28 days. Documentation must also be shown indicating horses have not been at a facility under

quarantine for EHV 1, 4 or exposed to any horses showing symptoms of EHV 1, 4 within the

    past 28 days.

Vaccination requirements for each show many vary. Be sure to check a show’s prize list for

up to date biosecurity requirements. Any vaccination record can be added to your eVet

certificate, just check with the competition then notify your vet to administer any necessary

vaccinations and update your horse’s eVet certificate, accordingly.

  • How much does it cost?

Once you create your account, you may subscribe your horses for $60.00 per horse per year.

Upon horse subscription, your veterinarian will be prompted to securely enter your horse’s health documents (coggins and vaccination records) to your eVet account. You can then email your eVet health certificate and health documentation to horse show management, transport companies, etc directly from your account.

eVet will remind you and your veterinarian when it is time to update your horse’s health documentation, so you never fall out of compliance or risk over vaccination. Subscribed accounts also benefit from eVet’s convenient integration with national federations and show management software partners that automatically add your horse’s coggins and vaccination information to your online horse show entry.

  • Why does my vet have to input the information?

To preserve the integrity of vaccination history, only licensed Veterinarians can enter horse information, as well as any vaccines given.

  • Why do I need to add my Vet?
    1. By adding your Vet or Vet clinic, you are granting him/her access to input vaccination records for your horse(s) on your profile.
    2. Other ways to connect your horse(s) to your Vet or Vet clinic is to click on “Add Vet” and continue adding him/her via email. This will then prompt your Vet to create a profile. He/She will then have immediate access to the horse(s) on your profile.
  • What if my Vet does not use eVet?

If your Vet is not currently using the eVet platform, you can still either upload the necessary documents (Coggins, Vaccination Record, Brand Card, etc.) onto your horse’s profile by clicking on “Documents”, or you can connect your Vet with the eVet team and we will walk him/her through the benefits of our platform to you and your Vet’s clinic.

  • Why do we need pictures?

Many horses look similar, and although they have unique names and registration numbers, horses can be mistaken for one another. It is important to include your horse’s photograph(s) and microchip number to ensure that the data and medical records are complete and accurate.

  • What if I sell my horse?

If you sell your horse, you can transfer ownership of your horse to another eVet User, or you can simply delete your horse and all associated data.

  • Do I need to add my Farm and Trainer to my profile?

Yes, in order to identify the associated Farm or Trainer with each horse on your profile, you will need to either “Add Farm” by searching on the first tab, or enter the Farm or Trainer in tab 2.

  • Can I delete a horse?

Yes, to the far right of your horse’s profile you will see a button “Delete Horse”. This will remove the horse from your profile. If you have any troubles, please email support@electronicvet.com.
